Will firms adopt facilities management cost reduction processes as expert says lack of funds is barrier to growth?

A number of UK businesses could be inspired to adopt facilities management cost reduction processes following the recent comments of one expert.

Ed Moss, a spokesman for the Manufacturing Institute, said the industries recent woes centre around a lack of access to funding.

According to the expert, it is this lack of available finance that is "dragging things down" in the sector.

He claimed that the ending of various quantitative easing activities is leading to a dip in consumer confidence around Europe.

"It goes beyond manufacturing, of course - there is generally a lack of working capital," he said.

"The opportunities that are there can't really be grabbed, because businesses don't want to overstretch themselves – that's it, really, in a nutshell. It revolves around a lack of access to finance."

It follows the recent publication of Office for National Statistics figures, which showed that the pace at which industrial output in the UK is growing has slowed in recent months.
