Will firms adopt facilities management as expert warns cuts will not be enough to stimulate economy?

October 5th 15:38 Cost Management

A number of UK businesses operating in various industries could be encouraged to adopt facilities management cost reduction processes after one expert claimed the coalition's spending cuts will not be enough to restore the country's economic health.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has called on the government to invest in business in order for the private sector to grow.

It comes as George Osborne used today's (October 5th) Conservative Party conference in Birmingham to prepare the public for this month's Comprehensive Spending Review.

Commenting on the chancellor of the exchequer's speech, Richard Lambert, director-general of the CBI, said: "His emphasis on the need for radical public sector reform was welcome, as was his recognition that investment in education, innovation and transport infrastructure must be a priority.

"The UK can't just cut its way back to economic health. That will have to be built on private sector growth, business investment and trade."
