Call for red tape reduction could boost firms using facilities management cost reduction processes

October 13th 15:26 Cost Management

A number of British businesses using facilities management cost reduction as a way of boosting their margins could be among those boosted by recent calls for a red tape reduction.

Business minister Mark Prisk has said that it is "impossible" for private sector firms to concentrate on growth if they are "constantly worrying about red tape".

The comments follow the European Commission (EC) outlining its focus on easing the regulatory burden faced by firms across the continent.

Mr Prisk welcomed the focus but called on the EC to introduce smarter measures in the future.

He commented: “The commission needs to have the courage to go further where necessary to cut bureaucracy and make a real difference to the bottom line of businesses across Europe.

"The government is working to break the habit of regulation in the UK, freeing businesses to realise their potential for growth. In the coming years I’d like to see the commission try to do the same, bringing in smarter regulation and wherever possible alternatives to regulation."
