Businesses using facilities management cost reduction processes could be boosted by expert's comments

October 1st 15:05 Cost Management

A number of UK businesses using facilities management cost reduction processes could be among those boosted by the recent comments of one industry expert.

Andrew Hawes, director and co-founder of consultancy group Newton, has claimed that on the whole, businesses are prepared to deal with the government's spending cuts and claimed they are not a "major focus" for most firms.

"Cuts and tax-changes and things like that are seen as inevitable and not actually that unfair and therefore it is not particularly a big deal for them," the expert said.

"They know there is a lot of pain coming and they are more focused on dealing with it – I'm not getting a sense of frustration."

Mr Hawes comments come as the UK awaits the outcome of the coalition Comprehensive Spending Review.

A number of firms are likely to be affected by the pending increase to VAT, which will rise from 15.5 to 20 per cent.
