Will use of health and safety process increase as HSE fine shows even large firms need help?

A number of businesses throughout the UK could be tempted to improve their health and safety process through facilities management following a recent incident in Moreton.
Premier Foods, the UK's largest food manufacturer, has been fined after a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation showed it had failed to ensure the safety of its employees.
The investigation took place after Thomas Williams had his skull crushed by a falling pillar section while working at the firm's Manor Bakeries site in Moreton.
Wirral Magistrates fined the company, which has an annual turnover of £2.6 billion, £14,000 after Mr William was hospitalised for six months.
HSE inspector Phil Redman said: "A man's life has been turned upside down because basic health and safety procedures weren't followed.
"Mr Williams has been permanently disabled from his injuries and will never be able to return to work. Premier Foods could have brought in specialists to carry out the work but instead Mr Williams and a colleague were just told to get on with the job."
