Will firms using facilities management cost reduction benefit from employee retention advice?

September 24th 12:03 Cost Management

UK businesses using facilities management cost reduction processes to protect their profit margins could be among those to benefit from recent guidance over employee retention.

A recently-published report by Sodexo Motivation Solutions has revealed that employees aged between 16 and 28 years are very likely to leave their job within a year of starting, smallbusiness.co.uk reported.

However, the report showed that introducing employee perks such as flexible working could improve employee retention.

This could lead to cost reductions for a number of firms as a lower staff turnover will mean less time spent on training new starters.

Clare Moore, communications manager at information services company Wolters Kluwer, told the news provider: "Employers aren't giving pay rises because in most cases they can't afford to.

"Companies should look at non-financial benefits to encourage staff retention, such as improving flexible working and help make the workplace more attractive for employees."

According to the firm, 43 per cent of 16 to 28-year-old employees describe flexible working as the "most attractive" perk they could be offered.
