Will firms seek facilities management cost reduction process as Harman warns of economic threat?

September 17th 12:11 Cost Management

The coalition government's spending plans are a threat to the UK's economy, it has been claimed.

This could inspire a number of businesses to adopt facilities management cost reduction processes to ensure their project margins are protected.

Harriet Harman, interim leader of the Labour Party, has accused the Conservatives of basing their plans on ideology rather than economic drive.

"It is a budget based on rewritten history and false excuses. They say there is no alternative, but the truth is this is exactly what the Tories want," she told the 142nd annual Trades Union Congress (TUC).

Ms Harman's comments come after the TUC published a report which showed that a "typical" family will suffer cuts equivalent to 6.2 per cent of their income as a result of the governments plans.

"The reality is that investment in public services and grants to community and voluntary groups support the fabric of the good society," she added.
