Will companies using facilities management cost reductions benefit from govt's plans to help firms 'go green'?

A number of UK business using facilities management cost reduction processes could be among those to benefit from a new government scheme.

The coalition is in talks to introduce a new multi-billion scheme aimed at helping businesses "go green".

This has been welcomed by advice website uSwitchforbusiness.com, which said the scheme will see a number of firms able to cut their operating costs.

James Constant, the website's director, said: "Anything that helps small businesses to manage their energy usage and therefore cut their costs has got to be good news.

"The question is whether it will go far enough to encourage business owners to be proactive in the energy market and to take steps to really tackle their energy bills."

News of the scheme comes as the September 30th deadline for firms using in excess of £500,000 worth of electricity per year to sign up to the new Carbon Reduction Commitment draws closer.
