Businesses based in the north-east of England that are currently using facilities management cost reduction processes as a way of boosting their profits could be among those to benefit from new support services in the area.

The Co-operative Group opened the doors to its new Enterprise Hub in the region earlier today (September 30th).

According to the firm, the facility will offer support to a number of member-owned enterprises in the north-east.

The centre forms part of a £5 million pound investment from the organisation, which is the largest consumer co-operative in the world with more than five million members.

Angela Davies, the group's co-operative development manager, said: "Communities are setting-up, running and growing member-owned enterprises - embracing the spirit of co-operation and having a say in the running of businesses and services that are important to their lives.

"As a modern, effective and relevant approach to business, the co-operative business model has, without doubt, an exciting part to play in fostering future UK enterprises."
