CRC deadline looms for facilities management users

The Environment Agency has offered its help to facilities management users over registration for the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC).
All businesses with an annual electricity bill of around £500,000 and over will have to register to the government scheme by the end of September.
The scheme will require all participants to buy an allowance for each tonne of CO2 they emit.
One way companies may seek to lower their CO2 emissions is through improving the efficiency of their facilities management processes.
However, so far only around half of the businesses that are due to register have done so.
Speaking to FM World, an Environment Agency spokesperson said that the organisation is there to help firms with the registration process.
"If there is anything that companies are confused about, they should come to us," he told the news provider.
"There is plenty of support available. We are here to help businesses. We want this to be a process of cooperation."
The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs recently announced that the government wants to work with businesses to help them lower their waste output and increase recycling voluntary commitments.
