Could video conferencing lead to facilities management cost reduction?

September 20th 17:19 Cost Management

Video conferencing could be used by some firms as part of measures to achieve facilities management cost reduction.

According to David Martella, director of operations and strategy for Cisco's new video conferencing package TelePresence, there are a range of benefits to businesses of being able to hold a virtual meeting.

One of these is the carbon reductions that can be achieved through by employees not having to travel in order to hold a meeting, something that also cuts down on expenses.

However, Mr Martella argues that video conferencing also increases collaboration between team members.

"What we've found is when you have teams that are working remotely, when you want to get them together you rarely bring the whole team together because it's too expensive," he said.

But by using video conferencing, more people can be included in the meetings and this can result in a faster time to market and better relationships between employees, said Mr Martella.

The Cisco TelePresence Virtual Meetings studio was launched on September 16th at the Marriott Hotel in London.ADNFCR-2717-ID-800072987-ADNFCR
