Could firms using facilities management benefit from increased protection from criminal activity?

September 1st 13:17 Cost Management

UK businesses using facilities management cost reduction processes could be among those boosted by recent comments regarding protection from criminal activity.

Industry body the Recruitment Society, has suggested that UK businesses should enjoy better protection from criminal activities carried out by their employees.

The comments come after the Law Commission published a new report which stated that courts in the UK should be given the power to apply a due diligence defence to statutes that would otherwise impose strict criminal liability for companies and individuals.

Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, said: "We do live in an increasingly litigious age. If businesses feel that they have been wronged, the likelihood is that they will look to see if there is some retribution or some recourse to the law available to them.

"In terms of liability ... it is definitely a time to be more cautious, more covered, more secure and having proper procedures in place than ever before."ADNFCR-2717-ID-800047481-ADNFCR
