Could facilities management cost reduction processes benefit the struggling firms of the north?

September 23rd 14:27 Cost Management

A number of businesses based in the north of England could be inspired to adopt facilities management cost reduction processes following the publication of a new report.

According to a recent survey published by corporate finance advisory boutique the Leoni Sceti Group (LSG), northern companies are twice as likely to be in debt as those based in the south of the country.

Just ten per cent the survey's northern respondents are debt free while almost a quarter of those in the south have no debts.

The research, which was undertaken by the Mackman Group, also showed that it is more difficult to access business funds for northern-based enterprises.

Patrick Leoni Sceti, managing director of LSG, commented: "This research comes at a critical time for the future of UK smaller firms as we anxiously wait to see exactly where the government's spending cuts will fall and who will be affected the most.

"It shows how the financial crisis and resulting economic conditions have truly affected the way small firms think, plan and operate and, critically, has served to widen the north-south divide."
