Retail facilities management could see upturn amid growing market confidence

Facilities management could become increasingly important in the retail sector as more businesses look to expand in the UK.

According to the Centre for Retail Research (CRR), confidence in the market is returning among UK retailers.

As such, they are now looking to develop their businesses in order to grab a slice of increasing consumer spend.

"The recession really has held back retail developments, and while the trading in the last few months was not great, there is at least the feeling that things are getting better," said professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the CRR

"All sorts of retailers who have got it in their plans to come to the UK or to develop within the UK have said, 'We've got to get cracking now'."

His comments follow a recent report by Barclaycard which revealed that consumer spending on cards saw a 9.9 per cent increase in July compared to the same month last year, challenging concerns that consumer confidence has dipped.ADNFCR-2717-ID-800029116-ADNFCR
