Firms using facilities management given chance to rate spending ideas

August 23rd 14:15 Cost Management

UK businesses using facilities management cost reduction techniques could be among those encouraged by the launch of the second phase of the government's Spending Challenge.

Originally, the coalition used the project to ask UK residents to submit ideas on how the country can save money in order to reduce its deficit in the post-recession era.

After compiling a shortlist of the ideas with the most potential, the government is now asking people to rate the remaining proposals on its dedicated website.

Included on the government website are a number of calls to reduce the tax and administration burdens on UK businesses.

It follows the publication last month of a report by the Chartered Institute of Taxation, which claimed that small businesses in the UK spend a disproportionate amount of time complying with complex tax regulations,

According to the organisation, the regularity with which the system changes makes it hard for many small firms to know where they stand.
