Firms urged to register for CRC

August 16th 12:22 Cost Management

Companies that use facilities management cost reduction techniques have been urged to sign up to the government's mandatory Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) scheme in advance of the deadline.

There are just 45 days left to register for the initiative, which aims to cut carbon emissions from private businesses.

New government figures reveal that so far 1,200 organisations have registered for the scheme.

However, a total of 3,000-4,000 firms are estimated to be required to sign up by September 30th.

With a large amount of paperwork involved, companies are being advised to register as soon as possible to avoid any complications.

Tony Grayling, head of climate change and sustainable development at the Environment Agency said: "Around a third of organisations that we expect to register for the CRC scheme have registered well in advance of the deadline.

"We would urge the remaining businesses to sign up now, and not leave registration to the last minute. Our dedicated CRC helpdesk is available to help businesses through the registrations process."

Among the top ten industries expected to be affected by the CRC are engineering, retail and construction/real estate.ADNFCR-2717-ID-800026148-ADNFCR
