Do firms using facilities management distrust politicians?

UK businesses using facilities management cost reduction techniques could take note of new research that reveals the country's most distrusted professions.

A survey by the Co-operative Bank Current Accounts found that politicians were the most distrusted professionals, with 57 per cent of the vote.

Bankers were next in line, before estate agents and footballers.

Electricians, plumbers and builders were also featured in the list, highlighting the lack of confidence in all levels business.

The research revealed that 54 per cent of the public are less trusting than they were last year, with concerns of the recession and poor service levels as reasons for their change in nature.

Commenting on the findings, John Hughes, business leader for retail products at the Co-operative Bank, said: "These results are very unsettling. For the sake of economic stability, it's imperative that the British public has confidence in its government, financial services sector and the housing market."

Doctors, teachers and police were the most trusted professions.
