Could HSE warning see firms adopt facilities management health and safety processes?

Construction firms in the UK could be inspired to adopt facilities management health and safety practices on sites across the country following a warning from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The department has warned parents and children that "building sites are not adventure playgrounds".
It comes after HSE figures showed that one child died and 25 more were injured on construction sites in the UK during 2008-09.
The numbers could inspire a host of firms to increase the measures taken to ensure that sites are secure at all times.
Philip White, the HSE's chief inspector of construction, warned: "Without proper precautions, construction sites are dangerous places for those who work on them day in day out, never mind the risks to children who simply see them as exciting playgrounds and don't understand the dangers.
"Of course we want children to make the most of their summer holidays by enjoying the outdoors, but building sites are not the place to do it. We need parents to help this message hit home."
The expert called on firms to make sure that areas that would pose a threat to children living nearby are "properly controlled".
