Could GDP rise buoy businesses using facilities management?

August 31st 13:41 Cost Management

UK businesses that are currently employing facilities management cost reduction process could be among those boosted by the news that GDP is on the rise.

According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), UK GDP increased by 1.2 per cent in the second quarter of this year.

The revised figure shows a slight improvement on the 1.1 per cent GDP growth originally reported by the ONS last month.

This growth represents the fastest quarterly GDP rise recorded for more than nine years.

Businesses operating in the production and manufacturing industries could be particularly boosted by the report, as it highlighted these sectors as enjoying stability over the last three months.

"Production output rose by one per cent in quarter two, which is the same as the increase in the previous quarter," the ONS said.

"Manufacturing output rose by 1.6 per cent in 2010 quarter two, compared with a rise of 1.4 per cent in the previous quarter."
