Could a slowed recovery see Scottish firms turn to facilities management?

August 9th 14:55 Cost Management

A number of businesses operating in various industries could be encouraged to use facilities management cost reduction processes in Scotland following the publication of a new report.

The latest figures from the Bank of Scotland have revealed that economic recovery in the country is beginning to slow.

According to the Bank's latest PMI report, while new order growth continued to rise last month, it increased at the slowest rate recorded for three months.

The report showed "slow but steady" recovery in a number of sectors including business, financial services and travel and tourism.

Donald MacRae, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland, said: "This month's data shows a thirteenth consecutive rise in business activity across Scotland, with recovery remaining manufacturer led.

"Overall, there is positive news in most areas, signalling Scotland's economy is in recovery, albeit somewhat subdued."

The latest official figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed that GDP for the UK as a whole increased by 1.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2010.
