Consumer confidence increase could boost firms using facilities management

August 31st 13:42 Cost Management

UK businesses that are currently using facilities management as a means of reducing their operating costs could be among those boosted by recent figures regarding consumer confidence.

The latest Consumer Confidence Index by GfK NOP has indicated that Britons are currently more optimistic about the next year.

GfK reported that its index increased by four points to -18 last month.

This is the first time the index has shown an improvement in UK confidence since February this year.

The report revealed increased confidence in both personal finance and the "general economy" for the forthcoming 12 months.

Nick Moon, managing director of GfK NOP Social Research, said that the increased confidence could go some way to helping the UK avoid another recession.

"Overall consumer confidence has been in constant decline for the last five months and a further fall would have made a double-dip recession seem a very real prospect," he claimed.
