New energy adviser at facilities management institute

July 26th 11:12 Health and Safety

Energy expert Bill Wright has been appointed as an advisor on the subject at the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM).

The former corporate energy manager for John Lewis will advise on public affairs, events and education in his new role.

Mr Wright, who has previously sat on Defra committees on energy and carbon reduction, is a chartered engineer by trade and is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.

Richard Byatt, corporate and public affairs director of the BIFM, said that the organisation's members and stakeholders require specialist knowledge on energy, which Mr Wright can provide.

"This is particularly true for energy management and the broader carbon reduction agenda, where we are increasingly being asked to respond to consultation, participate in debate or simply offer an opinion," he added.

"Bill's knowledge and experience will complement that of our many volunteers, to ensure we can properly represent the facilities management viewpoint."
