Could firms using facilities management be encouraged by call for LBRO overhaul?

July 23rd 15:55 Cost Management

Small businesses in the UK that are using facilities management cost reduction processes could be among those encouraged by recent calls regarding local regulations.

The government recently announced that it is to carry out a review of the Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO).

This has been welcomed by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which said the office is in need of a complete overhaul.

However, the FSB has expressed concern that the review could lead to the LBRO being scrapped and called on the coalition not to deprive small firms of the "vital" local regulatory body.

John Walker, the organisation's national chairman, said: "Creating a robust relationship between small firms and regulatory services locally should be a high priority for the coalition government if they are to truly deliver on their pledge to cut red tape.

"At the FSB we know that small businesses prefer to receive information from a local, single source and so this power should be provided locally."
