Will IT firms expected to do more with less turn to facilities management?

UK businesses operating in the IT sector could be encouraged to seek the help of a facilities management service provider following the publication of a recent report.

New figures from ReThink Recruitment have shown that IT directors expect workloads to increase and budgets to fall in 2010.

This could mean a number of small IT firms contracted to carry out IT projects need help in reducing their costs in order to boost their profit margins.

According to the study, 66 per cent of IT decision makers expect project workloads to increase throughout the remainder of this year.

However, at the same time, 48 per cent have voiced "major concerns" about the chances of completing the workload within the specified budget.

Michael Bennett, ReThink Recruitment's director, said: "For many IT departments this will be the second consecutive year in which budgets have not kept pace with workload demands."

He added: "Concern is growing among IT directors that budgets simply won't be able to cope with workload demands, as projects which were shelved during the recession are revived."
