Will firms using facilities management processes be encouraged by calls for governmental continuity?

June 15th 17:25 Cost Management

A number of businesses using facilities management cost reduction processes could be among those to be encouraged by recent calls for governmental continuity

The Forum of Private Businesses (FPB) said that while it recognises the need for tough measures to stabilise the UK's economy, the government must consider the needs of small businesses when implementing new policies.

According to the FPB, as well as reducing the country's deficit, the new coalition must ensure continuity of government, improve market conditions and strengthen "traditional sectors".

The comments come ahead of next week's emergency Budget and follow an announcement from the Office for Budget Responsibility, which revised its growth forecast for 2011 from 3.25 per cent to 2.6 per cent.

Matt Goodman, the FPB's head of policy, commented: "These are more realistic projections of growth which reflect feedback from our member businesses and the general mood of the economy at the moment.

"The government has a difficult task in this emergency Budget. While addressing the gaping public deficit in order to stabilise the economy must be the first priority this must be balanced with continued support for the drivers of growth – small businesses."ADNFCR-2717-ID-19838328-ADNFCR
