Will firms turn to facilities management as consumers get the 'Budget blues'?

June 25th 16:18 Cost Management

Retailers operating in the UK could be inspired to adopt facilities management cost reduction processes after a recent report showed that consumers have got the "Budget blues".

According to a recently-published study by price comparison service uSwitch, 33 million Britons feel they are worse off now the Budget has been announced.

The research showed that 51 per cent of respondents have lost confidence in their personal finances and a further 27 per cent have vowed to cut back on their retail spending.

Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, commented: "While it may succeed in tackling the national debt in the long run, consumers are clearly concerned about what it means for them personally in the shorter run.

"Once the VAT hike takes effect, consumers will be cutting back on luxuries, and even necessities like food. The government has bought itself some time, but come January it could be facing double jeopardy."
