Could leading sports store's use of new software inspire firms using facilities management?

June 28th 15:49 Cost Management

Businesses using facilities management as a way of reducing operating costs could be encouraged by a recent software implementation at one sports store.

American Golf, a market leader in European golf retail, has selected K3 Retail to provide it with new business intelligence tools.

It is hoped the new software will "improve availability and use of management information throughout business".

American Golf is expecting stock visibility to increase following the integration, which should allow the firm to make more accurate business critical decisions.

Ged Gould, the company's finance director, said: "Our previous business intelligence system was unreliable. The data very often had to be reconciled to the underlying accounting information and our buying and merchandising team spent significant time manipulating the information in spreadsheets, which was far from ideal.

"With the new solution … automated reports will be available to our team first thing in the morning which will save time, but more importantly will help us to make better informed decisions."

American Golf operates 80 branches around the UK and Ireland.
