Could firms using facilities management save more money by leasing?

June 16th 16:26 Cost Management

Businesses using facilities management as a way of reducing their operating costs could make further savings by leasing equipment.

This is the view of the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA), which said leasing can allow businesses to avoid the need to find the full purchase price when bringing in new equipment.

The comments come as the FLA issued a letter to chancellor George Osborne calling on the government to highlight the importance of helping businesses invest.

Julian Rose, head of asset finance at the FLA, said: "The leasing industry can help economic recovery by directly funding the equipment needed by business and the public services.

"But to do that we need two things: a fair tax system that does not - as at present - favour the purchase of equipment over renting; and the removal of unnecessary barriers to the use of leasing by public services, so allowing public money to be spent cost-effectively on newer, energy-efficient equipment."ADNFCR-2717-ID-19841299-ADNFCR
