Would a hung parliament leave firms needing facilities management?

May 4th 15:41 Cost Management

A hung parliament result at the general election could have a negative impact on the UK's economic confidence, it has been claimed.

In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Conservative MP Ken Clarke said the result could cost millions of people their jobs and homes.

Mr Clarke, who stood in the House of Commons during the hung parliament of 1974, told the newspaper: "A hung parliament is very dangerous. If people lose confidence in our ability to pay our debts then the International Monetary Fund will have to do it for us.

"People will have to worry about their jobs again because their businesses may not be able to pay high interest rates on borrowing. Mortgages will go up and there'll have to be more public sector cuts."

The comments could encourage a number of British businesses to look into effective facilities management as a way of reducing their operating costs.

Voters will shortly learn the outcome of the election after taking to the polling station on Thursday (May 6th).
