Will firms seek facilities management assistance while the UK 'lags behind' in broadband quality?

The UK is lagging behind in terms of global competition when it comes to broadband internet connections, it has been suggested.

This could inspire a number of businesses to adopt specialist facilities management software in a bid to reduce their operating costs.

Webro Cabled & Connectors recently called on the new coalition government to speed up its nationwide rollout of broadband before the country "lags even further behind the rest of the world".

The organisation's managing director Roger Webster commented: "In 2009 there were 466.95 million broadband customers in the world and only 18,356,000 of those were in the UK.

"We're sixth in the world in terms of broadband user figures but we're behind other thriving countries such as US, Japan and China."

The comments follow the revelation that MPs from both the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties have formed the first coalition government the UK has seen since 1974.

Now the government has been formed, Mr Webster called on those in power to "drive forward" plans to improve the country's broadband infrastructure.
