Will firms seek facilities management assistance as the new government focuses on 'cutting back regulation'?

British businesses in a wide range of industries could be among those to be encouraged by the recent calls of one industry body.

The Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) has called on the new coalition government to reduce the level of legislation and regulation facing employers and recruiters in the UK.

If the new government, which has been formed by the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties, heeds the advice it could be good news for businesses that are currently using facilities management as a way of reducing their operating costs.

Adrian Marlowe, the organisation's chairman, said: "Employers and recruitment agencies have been flooded with legislation and regulations which have reportedly cost the UK economy well over £170 billion over the last decade.

"Much of this emanates from EU legislation and the new government should focus on weeding out regulations that inhibit business from generating new jobs."

Mr Marlowe said UK businesses could be set to benefit from the coalition's attitude toward the implementation of EU rules, in particular the Tories' desire to review the EU-inspired Agency Workers Regulations.
