Will firms seek facilities management assistance as 'critical' talks take place?

May 10th 12:05 Cost Management

Retailers and other businesses operating in the UK could be inspired to seek cost reduction help from facilities management providers over the next few days.

According to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the next few days, which will see senior political figures discuss the possibility of a coalition government, will be "critical" to the UK's economic future.

Richard Lambert, the CBI's director-general, said: "Business needs stability and wants to see a clear decision reached swiftly, which delivers a stable new government.

"The UK's route to economic recovery needs to be firmly established. The markets have been expecting this outcome, but uncertainty brings risks. The next few days will be critical."

Mr Lambert's comments follow the general election, which failed to produce an overall winner after all three of the main contenders were thwarted in their attempts to secure a majority of 326 seats.

The Conservative party commanded the highest number of seats with 306, followed by Labour with 258 and the Liberal Democrats with 57.
