Good facilities management could help employers keep their workers healthy

Using effective facilities management software solutions, businesses could ensure that their staff stick to a safe number of working hours each week.
Scientists have warned that putting in too many hours can heighten the risk of heart disease, after analysing the working weeks and health of more than 6,000 civil servants.
The team from University College London and the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health warned that working ten or 11 hour days can increase the risk of developing heart disease by around two-thirds.
As well as having more time to exercise and relax, workers who stick to shorter weeks are also less likely to suffer from stress and anxiety, the study noted.
Commenting, Dr John Challenor, from the Society of Occupational Medicine, said: "Employers and patients need to be aware of all of the risk factors for coronary heart disease and should consider overtime as one factor that may lead to a number of medical conditions."
A separate study published in the Occupational and Environmental Medicine has warned that stress in the workplace can increase the risk of heart disease in women under 50, again pointing to the potential benefits of making use of facilities management software to monitor working hours.
