One-quarter of businesses 'suffer data attacks'

April 22nd 15:24 Cost Management

More than a quarter of businesses have been attacked by someone looking to acquire their data, according to a new report.

This could inspire a number of firms to take on effective facilities management as new rules mean data losses could land them with fines of up to £500,000.

According to data from a recent report by security group Infosecurity Europe, 28 per cent of businesses have suffered an attack.

However, despite this, just 14 per cent of enterprises feel they are equipped to deal with the threat of an attack.

Claire Sellick, event director for Infosecurity Europe, said: "Organisations need to approach managing data integrity risks in the same way as they approach data availability and data confidentiality risks.

"One of the issues with data integrity attacks is that they are much harder to detect than data theft and the compromised data may not be detected for years when the data's validity is questioned."
