Could facilities management increase administrative efficiency?

British businesses could be inspired to take on an effective facilities management provider after a new report revealed the amount of money that is wasted on inefficient administration.

According to a recent report by software firm Adobe, UK offices waste around £8.8 billion each year with ineffective processes.

The YouGov poll, carried out on behalf of the firm, revealed that outdated process, unnecessary duplication of effort and internal politics were all contributing to the waste.

Data from the study showed that 30 per cent of workers feel they spend more than five hours per month on "unnecessary administration".

David Gingell, Adobe's senior director of marketing, EMEA, said: "The promise of the paperless office and the efficiencies that it would bring, have clearly yet to be realised.

"At a time when a motivated workforce could be the difference between success and failure for many organisations, employees either do not see the value of the work they are being asked to do or are wasting time on unnecessary tasks."
