Businesses urged to strive for international safety standards

April 13th 15:48 Health and Safety

A number of British businesses and organisations are being urged to strive for higher standards of health and safety.

Aviva Risk Management Solutions (ARMS) has invited "well-organised" firms to receive a free expert consultation on how to achieve the internationally-recognised BS OHSAS 18001 safety and health standard.

Businesses taking the organisation up on its offer will be able to talk to a lead auditor consultant to discuss the benefits of achieving the high standard.

Kevin Chicken, training and consultancy manager at ARMS, said: "Well-managed organisations may think their health and safety is up to scratch, but can they prove it? Has it ever been assessed by independent experts?

"More organisations than ever before are being asked to provide evidence of a positive approach to health and safety in order to win contracts and new business,"

Another way for businesses such as retailers to ensure health and safety compliance is through the use of an effective facilities management service provider.
