O2 chooses AEA for energy contract

March 9th 19:20 Cost Management

Energy and climate change consultancy AEA has been awarded a contract with mobile phone operator O2.

The contract will see AEA assist O2 in preparation for the Carbon Reduction Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC), which is set to commence next month.

AEA is now working with more than 20 firms in its capacity as the principal technical adviser to the Department of Energy and Climate Change for the new scheme.

News of the contract could encourage a number of companies to seek independent facilities management services to aid them in their own efforts to reduce their carbon emissions.

The contract was awarded on the back of previous work carried out by AEA for O2, which included compiling an in-depth assessment of the communications firm's liabilities under the CRC scheme.

It is hoped that the scheme will result in a reduction in carbon emissions in the UK as well as lower energy bills and an "improved business reputation" for those involved, AEA said.
