99p Stores to boost retail numbers

Economy value retail chain 99p Stores is set to double the amount of units it has over the next three years.
The proposed expansion will be made possible by the development of a brand new national distribution centre (NDC), The Grocer magazine reported.
According to the news provider, 99p Stores has acquired a 370,000 sq ft site from warehouse firm Prologis.
The new site is said to be 100 per cent larger than 99p Stores' current NDC.
Commenting on the £3 million investment, Gordon Brown, 99p Stores' chairman, said: "We are now working with Prologis on our mid-term plan of opening another NDC within four years in the north of England to build our chain to over 600 stores."
The magnitude of the expansion could come as good news to facilities management providers as 99p Stores could be in the market to bring in independent services to help manage cost control and health and safety compliance in the new stores.
