Baker backs safety campaign

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new phase of its "Shattered Lives" campaign, which is intended to highlight ways businesses can avoid slip, trip and fall accidents.
According to the HSE, such accidents resulted in 4,000 working days being lost last year in the north-east alone.
The campaign has now been backed by baking firm Warburton's, which has upgraded its Newburn bakery with non-slip flooring in order to reduce the number of accidents that occur.
David Cole, HSE principal inspector for the north-east, said: "It's great that Warburton's is backing the campaign and is helping its employees understand and control the potential for slips, trips and falls to happen.
"Slips, trips and falls might sound comical, even trivial, but they shatter the lives of thousands of British workers every year."
The HSE hopes that the measures taken by Warburton's will inspire a number of other companies in the UK to be aware of the impact that falls can have on their operations.
