Health and safety 'a priority' at London 2012 sites

Heath and safety is the priority at during construction of the Olympic sites in London.

This is according to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), which said that it is committed to ensuring its workers do not suffer injury as construction enters its busiest year.

Effective facilities management may help the body reduce the risk of workplace incidents and chairman of the ODA John Armitt stated he is "confident" the good performance at the London 2012 locations will continue.

"We have achieved an excellent safety record on the project so far through the commitment and hard work of everyone on the site," he remarked.

However, Mr Armitt noted that there the ODA will face "huge challenges" in the coming months, as the workforce is set to increase to around 11,000 and deliveries will rise from 650 to 1,000 per day.

On Monday, the ODA announced that a new link into the Olympic Park under the A12 dual carriageway has been completed on schedule.ADNFCR-2717-ID-19545945-ADNFCR
