Cooperation regarding facilities management is a key part of ensuring commercial buildings are equipped with efficient energy supplies.

This is according to Richard Wilson, chair of Constructing Excellence in Wales, who told the Western Mail that collaboration is the best way to make sure new or refurbished properties are made as sustainable as possible.

"A team approach makes sure that the experts in design, facilities management and engineering have the right level of input as early as possible to install the right energy management systems," he was quoted as saying.

Mr Wilson said that it is important best practice is used when planning what energy-saving technology will be used, rather than simply choosing the cheapest option.

He argued that sustainability is no longer an option extra, adding that it has become an integral part of building design.

A recent npower report claimed that small and medium-sized companies will waste £3 billion this year due to poor levels of efficiency.ADNFCR-2717-ID-19543545-ADNFCR
