Businesses need more 'green incentives'

January 28th 17:22 Cost Management

UK businesses will be more inclined to switch to low-carbon working models if there are bigger incentives involved, according to one expert.

James Murray, editor of BusinessGrenn.com said, there is a "huge list" of things that need to be done to increase promotion of sustainable business practices on a national level.

"There is an enormous amount that can be done to incentivise businesses to move to more sustainable areas," he said.

"More incentives is a big one, rolling out wider carbon pricing to boost energy bills and encouraging people to be more efficient with their energy is another big one," he added.

The comment follows a government announcement that the UK Innovation Investment Fund is now up and running.

UK firms will now have access to the £125 million Hermes Private Equity environmental innovation fund, which is designed to provide businesses with assistance in financing the implementation of green technology.
