A campaign by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos has been given an award.
The initiative, which was carried out by the HSE in partnership with communications agency MS&L, was voted top in the health category at the European Excellence Awards in Vienna.
Asbestos programme director Steve Coldrick said the move had helped tradesmen to learn more about the risks of the material.
He remarked that "asbestos remains Britain's biggest workplace killer", noting that some still think it is a "risk of the past".
Firms working in the construction sector may wish to raise awareness about asbestos and its dangers as part of a facilities management programme.
The campaign was launched in early November and was backed by £1.2 million in funding.
Former footballer and tradesman Ian Wright was the face of the initiative and Mr Coldrick said that he "ticked all the right boxes" in terms of promoting the risks of asbestos exposure.
