Businesses are wasting energy, CBI claims

December 23rd 09:22 Cost Management

Businesses and households in the UK are currently wasting £15 million per day due to poor energy efficiency.

This is according to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), which has urged companies to step up their efforts to cut carbon after the issue was discussed by world leaders in Copenhagen.

According to the body's third Climate change tracker, the country is lagging behind in terms of becoming a low-carbon economy, something effective facilities management may be able to help with.

"We need easy-to-access support and incentives to encourage improved insulation in homes and offices, a switch to more fuel-efficient cars and other energy savings steps," remarked director-general of the body Richard Lambert.

He added that boosting energy efficiency will go "a long way" towards the UK meeting its greenhouse gas reduction targets.

In related news, the government recently announced that funding is available to enterprises that are looking to upgrade their heating systems as part of facilities management changes.ADNFCR-2717-ID-19529247-ADNFCR
