SMEs targeting facilities management cost reduction?

November 9th 17:05 Cost Management

Facilities management cost reduction could be set to become a greater priority for UK firms, as many have stated an intention to lower outgoings.

According to a survey by uSwitchforBusiness.com, 58 per cent of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK are looking for ways to cut back.

However, respondents are increasingly confident about their prospects in the recession - with more than 80 per cent expecting to survive.

Indeed, more than four in ten said they are seeing signs of economic recovery, with around a third expecting it to take less than six months for their business to get back on track.

Small business expert at the site Jake Ridge noted that cost-cutting measures have helped companies survive, adding: "Despite having the odds stacked against them, Britain's SMEs have battled to stay afloat and to survive the recession."

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs recently encouraged businesses to take eco-friendly steps that could also help lower costs.
