HSE forum 'to improve safety standards'

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new online forum aimed at improving standards across British businesses.
It allows firms that have made a 'pledge' to ensure that their operations do not result in injury or death among employees, customers or members of the public to discuss various health and safety themes.
It features a number of case studies - including some that may be useful to companies involved with facilities management - and deputy chief executive of the HSE Kevin Myers said that the new forum is "a particularly exciting prospect".
"We hope that in time [the] forum will become a space where best practice in health and safety is exchanged," he remarked, adding that firms will be encouraged to share their ideas about bringing accident rates down.
Earlier this month, HSE inspectors travelled to harbours in Scotland to highlight the important of good health and safety in the workplace.
