Efficiency changes to aid facilities management?

November 20th 17:14 Cost Management

Failing to implement simple efficiency changes can have a significant impact on a business's profits.

This is according to television presenter Rob Holdway, who was commenting following the release of a new awareness campaign by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), which is promoting the importance of cutting the environmental impact of offices.

Mr Holdway, who is a supporter of the initiative, said that the water, energy and waste generated by a firm "has a direct cost straight off the bottom line" of an enterprise and urged them to act on the issue.

"Doing a simple audit to see what you're doing now and then planning where you can prioritise your activities [can] make a difference," he stated, adding that all employees need to be a part of the initiative in order for it to be a success.

Figures published by Defra earlier in the week showed that businesses in the UK could save £6.4 billion annually by making low cost efficiency changes like lowering thermostats.ADNFCR-2717-ID-19471778-ADNFCR
