Safety event 'could raise construction facilities management standards in Scotland'

October 30th 09:09 Health and Safety

A new event is to take place to help improve safety standards in Scotland's construction sector.

Organised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Working Well Together Campaign, it may be of interest to companies that carry out facilities management on building sites in the country.

Issues such as electricity and isolation, noise reduction, mechanical handling and working at height will all be covered at the event, which is taking place next Tuesday (November 3rd) at Janetstown Industrial Estate in Thurso.

HSE construction inspector for the north Highlands Peter Black said that injuries in the Scottish construction industry are "a real matter for concern".

"Events like this are designed to provide workers and company owners with the skills and knowledge they need to protect themselves," he stated.

The HSE is holding a number of similar initiatives across the UK, having today announced it is to offer tips to industrial firms in Sunderland while carrying out inspections.ADNFCR-2717-ID-19435616-ADNFCR
