Companies carrying out industrial facilities management in the north-east of England could see themselves subjected to an inspection from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The body is aiming to improve safety on Sunderland's industrial estates through a new initiative bring run in partnership with the city's council.
A team from the HSE will be touring sites from this Monday (November 2nd) for a three-week period and will offer advice on how companies can reduce risks relating to working at height and workplace transport.
It will also be providing tips on sensible management and improving business standards.
"We'll be looking to ensure that companies are taking the necessary steps to identify and minimise the risks to help ensure a safer workplace for all," remarked HSE inspector Jonathan Wills.
Earlier this month, the HSE held events in Devon and Cornwall in an effort to reduce the number of accidents caused by moving vehicles in the workplace.
