Failing to adjust timeclocks 'could increase facilities management cost'

Businesses could see the cost of their facilities management increase if they fail to adjust their clocks accordingly this weekend.

That is the opinion of insurance firm RSA, which noted that not taking into account the change may result in firms seeing their costs rise.

It urged companies to check and reset timers on their heating systems and other equipment ahead of the clocks going back an hour this Sunday (October 25th), as neglecting this could "add to the heating bill".

"It appears that many organisations and individuals simply forget about timeclocks, which results in more energy being used and more CO2 being produced," explained Dr Paul Pritchard, UK head of corporate responsibility at RSA.

"Ideally, equipment should only come on (and go off) when needed," he remarked, adding that vending machines and water-coolers may also be controlled by timeclocks.
